Meyer's Dryer SheetsRe-Usable Dryer SheetsDryer Sheets
Earth friendly alternatives to toxic dryer sheets
We rarely use the dryer these days - one of the benefits of living in a drought-prone area I guess and Australia also still has a love affair for drying clothes outdoors, but I do remember our dryer being used more when I was growing up in a wetter part of the country. My mom would also use dryer sheets to add a nice fragrance to the clothes.
It may have smelled nice, but as with so many things we did so naively back then, we really didn't think too much about what was in those sheets and the possible consequences.

Call it "eco-geeko". I don't care. This morning the princess and I are going to the Alive Expo in downtown, Hot-lanna.

Thought some of my organic/natural relatives might find this interesting.
USDA Certified Products Test Dioxane-Free
ANAHEIM, CA - A newly released study commissioned by the Organic Consumers Association (OCA), a watchdog group with over 500,000 members, and overseen by environmental health consumer advocate David Steinman (author of The Safe Shopper's Bible), analyzes leading "natural" and "organic" brand shampoos, body washes, lotions and other personal care products for the presence of the undisclosed carcinogenic contaminant 1,4-Dioxane. A reputable third-party laboratory known for rigorous testing and chain-of-custody protocols, performed all testing.

Not long ago I had an apple problem. Wavering in the produce section of a Manhattan grocery store, I was unable to decide between an organic apple and a nonorganic apple (which was labeled conventional, since that sounds better than "sprayed with pesticides that might kill you"). It shouldn't have been a tough choice--who wants to eat pesticide residue?--but the organic apples had been grown in California.

Making sense of organic labeling can be difficult, and many consumers do not understand the significance of the USDA Organic label. Since October 21, 2002, the following guidelines were established by the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Organic Program (NOP) to assure consumers know the exact organic content of the food they buy.
Single-Ingredient Foods
On foods like fruits and vegetables, look for a small sticker version of the USDA Organic label or check the signage in your produce section for this seal.
